Description

As part of the AISWA Purposeful Pedagogies Masterclass series, this one-hour webinar will explore the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their relevance to education. We will explore how they can be used to start conversations on a range of topics linked to topics in the curriculum and issues students can take action on, in their local communities.

During this session will explore how the SDGs might be taught through different resources, models of different groupings which support different curriculum units, and different age appropriate models for the SDGs from early years, to primary school to secondary students.

Using the SDGs as a foundation, we will explore how ‘outward change’ needs inner change, and the new model for this, The Inner Development Goals (IDGs).  We will look at different ways this model might be matched to SDG tasks and how it is linked to your existing curriculum.

Participants will be asked to bring along a unit of work, and we will align this to the SDGs and IDGs together in our session using various tools to assist us.

Session Outcomes
- Explore how the SDGs can be used in teaching and learning experiences from early years to secondary schools and to identify how the SDGs can support student action projects.
- Show understanding of age appropriate models for the SDGS and resources educators can use for their own students.
- Describe how the IDGs can support teaching and learning based around the SDGs and vice versa.

The webinar link will be sent to registered participants a few days prior to the session date and a  Wakelet collection of resources will be shared after the session.
