Launching the 2025 AISWA State Election Platform

Education Forum Panel

On Wednesday 22 January 2025, AISWA proudly launched its 2025 State Election Platform at the AISWA State Education Forum, held at the University Club of Western Australia.

Our Four Key Advocacy Priorities

AISWA, a leader in advocating for the Independent school sector, works to serve, represent, and support its members. The Independent sector plays a significant role in WA's success, reducing pressure on the public education system, supporting workforce development, and strengthening communities.

As part of our 2025 State Election Platform, AISWA is focusing on four critical priorities:

  • Investment in a $25 Million per Annum Capital Works Fund.
  • Addressing the $2 Million per Annum Reform Funding Shortfall.
  • Improving the Planning Consultation Process.
  • Inclusive and Collaborative Decision-Making for Every Child.

These priorities align with AISWA's mission of creating a stronger, more inclusive educational system for all children in WA.

Forum Highlights

The event, hosted by AISWA Executive Director, Chris Massey, was a gathering of education leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders, including panellists:

  • Hon Dr Tony Buti MLA, Minister for Education;
  • Mr Peter Rundle MLA, Deputy Leader of The Nationals and Shadow Minister for Education;
  • Ms Nicole Robins, Liberal candidate for Jandakot.

The event was moderated by Dixie Marshall, Chair of GRA Partners, with morning tea following the panel discussion, providing an opportunity for further networking and collaboration.
The forum concluded with closing remarks by Dr Alec O’Connell, AISWA Chair, marking the end of an insightful discussion.

We also thank our Chair, Dr Alec O’Connell, who closed the forum, and CEO of Independent Schools Australia, Graham Catt, who provided valuable insights on the upcoming ISA campaign, School Choice Counts.

It was encouraging to hear the following policies announced and discussed during the event:

  • WA Labor’s commitment to provide $8 million for infrastructure upgrades at remote schools across the Kimberley. According to the Minister’s office, this is open to Independent schools through a competitive process.
  • Ms Robins’ announcement that the WA Liberals’ commitment to provide AISWA with $8 million over four years to address the reform funding shortfall.

We are incredibly grateful to all who attended in person or online and contributed their valuable insights and questions to shape the discussion.

AISWA remains committed to leading, serving, and advocating for the Independent school sector. Together with the government, we look forward to building a brighter future for every child in WA.
