AISWA State Election Platform - Key Outcomes

Over the past few months, AISWA has been actively engaging with policymakers, stakeholders, and the broader community to raise awareness about the critical needs of our schools.  While we still have some work to do to achieve all our objectives we achieved the following outcomes:

  • Capital Works Funding: WA Labor has committed $8 million for non-government schools in the Kimberley, laying the foundation for future capital investment. Several local commitments have also been made towards Independent school projects. While this announcement is warmly welcomed, AISWA will continue to advocate for a state-wide capital Infrastructure Works Fund.  We also gratefully acknowledge several local commitments made towards Independent school projects during this campaign period.
  • Reform Funding Shortfall: WA Liberals pledged $8 million over four years to address the funding gap left by the discontinuation of the Non-Government Reform Support Fund. While WA Labor has not matched this, the Education Minister has promised to advocate for federal support.
  • Planning Consultation: Policymakers acknowledge the need for better consultation with Independent schools. AISWA will work to establish this as a standard practice.
  • Inclusive Decision-Making: The importance of ensuring all students have access to quality education was widely recognised, reflected in initiatives like WA Labor’s expanded School Breakfast Program, which now includes Independent schools.

Thank you for your ongoing support—together, we will continue to work towards a brighter future for every child.
