Position Overview
Kerry Street Community School is in search of an innovative Principal who embodies our core values, engages our diverse community, and leads our school in its ongoing expansion and continuous improvement. - Proactive Leadership: Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to excellent professional standards, actively developing strong parent and community partnerships.
- Collaborative Decision-Making: Experience in strategic planning and realisation of outcomes with a collaborative approach to decision-making.
- Effective School Administration: Strong business management and financial skills.
- Innovative Pedagogies: Understanding and advocacy of innovative educational pedagogies currently used at Kerry Street, including play-based learning, nature play, and inquiry-based learning.
- Inclusive Education: Experience or knowledge of Inclusive Education, including relevant legislation and provision.
- Holistic Education: Proven ability to facilitate a warm, encouraging, and high-quality learning environment that meets the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students.
- Conflict Resolution: Experience or knowledge of positive conflict resolution frameworks, including Restorative Justice and Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) Model.
Desirable Selection Criteria
- Democratic Leadership: Experience in community schooling, fostering a democratic approach to education.
- Curriculum and Pedagogy Expertise: Knowledge of the WA curriculum and independent school sector. Is aware of current and emerging trends learning and pedagogy for children and can lead innovations appropriate to the philosophy of Kerry Street.
- Effective Communication: Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including public speaking. Practises Nonviolent Communication (NVC).
- Mentoring Skills: The ability to mentor and empower staff and students through a proactive and collaborative approach.
- Digital Proficiency: Competency with Microsoft Office 365 and school management systems such as Sentral.
Eligibility
- Recent experience as Primary School Principal, Deputy Principal or another demonstrated leadership role.
- Tertiary qualifications in Education.
- TRBWA Registration.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- National Police Check.

The contract will commence in Term 1 of 2025, and the remuneration package and full-time equivalency (FTE) will be discussed and determined with the successful candidate.
