Kerry Street Community School is seeking a qualified primary teacher to join our team in a full-time position, starting in Term 1 of 2025. The successful candidate will work with either our middle or upper primary class. To be considered, applicants must address the selection criteria in a maximum of 3 A4 pages. SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
- Strong understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum
Demonstrated expertise in delivering integrated learning programs and authentic learning experiences that align with the Western Australian Curriculum, including inquiry-based and real-world applications. - Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to professional standards
A commitment to maintaining high professional standards and building strong relationships with parents, students, allied health professionals and the wider community. - Experience in differentiated instruction
Ability to plan, implement, and assess differentiated programs that cater to a wide range of student needs, including experience working in multi-age classroom settings. - Knowledge of innovative educational approaches
An understanding of and advocacy for innovative educational pedagogies, such as play-based learning, nature pedagogy, and inquiry learning. - Experience in inclusive education
Extensive experience in supporting inclusive education, with a strong background in working with neurodiverse students. - Knowledge of positive conflict resolution frameworks
Experience or familiarity with positive conflict resolution practices, including Non-Violent Communication, the Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) Model, and Restorative Justice, to support a positive and constructive school culture.
Desirable
- Familiarity with whole-school programs
Experience with programs such as PLD (or another synthetic phonics program), Sharp Reading (or an alternative guided reading program), and the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum. - Leadership experience or interest
Demonstrated leadership experience or a strong interest in developing leadership skills within a school setting. - Experience in community and/or democratic school settings
Experience working in a community and/or democratic school environment, with a focus on fostering strong relationships, supporting student voice, and actively engaging students, parents, and the broader community. - Proficiency with educational technology
Skilled in using technology for educational purposes, including the Microsoft 365 suite, school management software such as Sentral, interactive whiteboards, and other digital tools to enhance learning and classroom management.

- Current Working with Children Check
- National Police Check.
