About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic and enthusiastic Library Officer to join our vibrant Library team for the remainder of the 2025 school year. This full-time temporary position is to cover extended leave and offers an immediate start.
We are seeking an individual who is passionate about supporting students and staff in a busy K–12 school library environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of organisation, adaptability, and a commitment to providing quality library services.
The Library Officer must have:

A relevant Library qualification or substantial library experience
-
Proven experience with library cataloguing
-
Flexibility and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
-
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
-
Strong computer literacy and the ability to quickly learn new systems
-
Ability to work accurately with attention to detail
-
Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Ability to work well under pressure

Current Working with Children Check
-
Department of Education Nationally Coordinate Criminal History Check
Desirable:
-
Experience using AccessIt Library software
-
Familiarity with Clickview
-
Knowledge of a range of online resources
Duties:
-
Assist students and staff with library services and enquiries
-
Maintain tidy and well-organised library collections including repairing damaged books
-
Process loans and returns efficiently; shelve returned items promptly
-
Maintain and monitor library equipment
-
Ensure the library environment is prepared for daily use
-
Processing and catalogue incoming stock and electronic resources
-
Organise and facilitate pop-up library events
-
Manage overdue notices and assist with regular stocktakes
-
Coordinate with staff in the absence of the Teacher Librarian during emergencies or critical incidents

Design and maintain engaging library displays

Oversee ClickView Library
-
Manage Scholastic Book Club
-
Perform other duties as directed by the Deputy Head of Secondary Teaching and Learning and Teacher Librarian
