The Gardens and Grounds Worker is supervised and supported by the Senior Grounds Person on a daily basis.
Some of the duties the Gardens and Grounds Worker are required to carry out are:
- Ensure all garden beds are weeded. Pull up dead plants and dispose. Remove all rubbish from garden beds. Apply fertilizer when required. Prune shrubs and plants with precision hedging of plants and shrubs including Roses
- Regular cleaning of leaves, grass, papers etc. from paths, walkways, car parks and gutters etc.
- Assist with daily watering programme
- Ensure verandahs and paved areas are clean and well maintained
- Whipper snipping and rough cutting as required
- Ensure all grounds buggies and machinery are cleaned on a regular basis and report any faults to the Senior Grounds Person.
- Prepare and mark ovals and grounds for sporting activities
- Assist with landscaping of school grounds
- Precision mowing of all ovals and grassed areas, as required, ensuring there are no grass clippings left on pathways in high pedestrian movement areas
- Set up and clear away for special school functions and moving of furniture and equipment as required
- Assist with herbicide, pesticide, fertilizer and wetta-soil application
- Assist with project work to improve the grounds.
- Assist with the opening of the Primary and Secondary campuses
- Assist with traffic control from 3.00pm each day or as requested at other times
