Boarding Supervisor (House Mother)

Santa Maria College is a leading Catholic girls' school, founded by the Sisters of Mercy with 1,280 students from Years 5 - 12 including 150 boarders. 

 

Our boarding students live in our four boarding houses overlooking the Swan River in Attadale and are cared for by eight Boarding Supervisors/ House Mothers. We provide a positive, nurturing environment for our boarders and a friendly and supportive workplace for our staff.

 

The role is full-time ongoing, commencing in May 2025. The role is overnight during rostered shifts.

 

The Boarding Supervisor/ House Mother is responsible for and cares for boarders from Years 7 to 12 living away from home. This role is term time only and is in partnership with another Boarding Supervisor/House Mother. 

 

The role of the Boarding Supervisor is to:

 

  • Promote the Catholic and Mercy ethos of the College

  • Supervise and care for girls within your House with compassion, consistency and fairness

  • Mentor and guide students

  • Support and supervise girls' involvement in recreational activities, outings and off campus functions

  • Oversee the health and medical care of the girls in your House in conjunction with the College Nurse

  • Establish positive connections with the girls' families

  • Maintain a positive, clean, safe and well-maintained House

The successful applicant will require the following:

 

  • Compassion for and interest in young people.

  • Experience in other boarding or care roles will be highly regarded

  • Empathy and patience.

  • A demonstrated ability to work independently, and as part of a team.

  • Highly developed communication skills.

  • Current First Aid certificate

  • Working With Children Check

  • Nationally Co-ordinated Criminal History Check

  • Completion of 'Duty of Care' course within the first year

  • Confidence in driving 12 seat commuter van.

  • Well developed Information Technology skills

  • F class bus license is desirable.
