We have a unique opportunity for you to join our Communicare Academy.
As an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Education Officer, you will work, in consultation with the Principal and Teachers, to assist and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. You will liaise with communities and support services in designing engagement strategies to foster the re-engagement of disengaged Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
This role will be offered on fixed term full time contract working 76 hours per fortnight.

Communicare Academy is an independent, non-government CARE (Curriculum and Re-engagement in Education) school operated by Communicare. We are committed to providing at-risk and disengaged young people with high quality education options in a flexible and supportive learning environment.
We provide a holistic education experience that meets the diverse needs of our students including small classes, education support staff, social-emotional development programs, personalised and flexible timetable options, excursions and camps, wrap-around student support services from a variety of in-school specialists and additional Communicare Inc. support services.

Selection Criteria
- Minimum of Certificate III in Education Support or extensive relevant experience
- Ability to develop, implement and report on individual learning programs
- Working knowledge of disabilities, including, but not limited to, autism, dyslexia, ADHD, ODD
- Ability to work within a high functioning, highly skilled team
- Experience in engaging with, motivating and inspiring at risk, disengaged young people
- High level computer skills
- Current Working with Children card
- Satisfactory Police clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date)
- Current Senior First Aid
- Unrestricted drivers’ licence
- Working With Children Check
