Description

This Youth Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid course is open to school staff who work directly with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander youth. You must be 18 years or over to attend the course.

Developed by and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people this informative and strengths-based course will teach you how to assist Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander young people who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional support is received or the crisis resolves, using practical, evidence-based action plan.

The course is delivered over two full days.

This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.

Health and safety precautions are important considerations for the AISWA MHFA trainers and for those who attend the training. However, these workshops are not designed as a therapy or support group. There is a risk that the information or discussions from these workshops can trigger a strong emotional reaction.

Please consider this before choosing to attend the training.
