Description

This Youth Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid course is open to school staff who work directly with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander youth in the mental health space.  You must be 18 years or over to attend the course. 

Developed by and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people this informative and strengths-based course will teach you how to assist Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander young people who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional support is received or the crisis resolves, using practical, evidence-based action plan.

Conducted by Rosalie Kickett, an accredited Youth Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid Instructor, the course is delivered over two full days.  

This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.

AISWA is offering this course at the INTRODUCTORY PRICE OF $275.00 for AISWA Members and $325.00 for Catholic Members.

Health and safety precautions are important considerations for the AISWA MHFA trainers and for those who attend the training. However, these workshops are not designed as a therapy or support group. Rosalie Kickett is a 58 year old Wilman, Beelya - Bibbulmun Nation Nyoongar Yok, who has an Associate Degree in Aboriginal Mental Health and Counselling and has been working in the Mental Health and Social and Emotional wellbeing industry for 28 years. Rosalie has an abundance of knowledge to share and a unique approach to social and emotional wellbeing which focuses on the four pivotal points of wellbeing; physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

Rosalie is an accredited Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid Mental Health and Youth Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid - Principal Master Instructor and has a passion for improving the mental health of communities.
