Social Ventures Australia presents Evidence for Learning in this information session for school leaders.
Evidence for Learning is a non-profit entity, operating nationally across all sectors of the Australian education system, enabling and supporting evidence-informed education practice in Australian schools. It helps educators increase learning by improving the evidence of what works and why.
Join us for this breakfast session where we will explain:
- The Learning Impact Fund - the Fund identifies, funds and evaluates programs aiming to raise the academic achievement of children and the creation of new Australian education research.
- Teaching & Learning Toolkit - a free, online, regularly updated summary of international and domestic educational research aimed to support evidence-informed decision-making; provide guidance for Principals, school leaders and teachers on how to use their resources to improve educational outcomes for their students and; act as an introduction to educational research.

Dr Tanya Vaughan
Tanya is Associate Director at Evidence for Learning and is responsible for the marketing, product development, community leadership and strategy for the Teaching & Learning Toolkit. Tanya has worked in education in policy design, implementation and evaluation in key Australian organisations including the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership and Principals Australia Institute. She has consulted on international and national projects in leadership in education and evaluation with Learning First and Educational Transformations.
She was lead consultant in investigating the impact of programs in the arts on outcomes for students in highly disadvantaged settings. A summary of the research entitled Bridging the Gap in School Achievement through the Arts (Vaughan, Harris & Caldwell, 2011) was launched at Parliament House Canberra in March 2011 by Peter Garrett, Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth. She is co-author of Transforming Education through The Arts (Caldwell & Vaughan, 2012). She is also co-author of two chapters in Changing Schools in an Era of Globalization (Caldwell & Vaughan, 2011) and one chapter in Improving Literacy through the Arts (Vaughan & Caldwell, 2014). Tanya taught at the senior secondary level in science and coordinated Biology.
Tanya is an Honorary Fellow at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education (MGSE) at the University of Melbourne. Tanya holds a Bachelor of Science (Monash University), Bachelor of Education (Queensland University of Technology), Professional Certificate in Instructional Leadership (MGSE) and Doctor of Philosophy (Griffith University).
