Description

Literacy Bites are a series of workshops focused on Literacy and hosted by experts in the field. Workshops are stand alone, you can attend all or one of the workshop series. 

Viewing: The Power of Image - Ron Gorman
Examining the interplay between words and images.

This session will consider the viewing as a powerful and complex process. It will examine the literacy demands required by children in a complex and dynamic landscape. The session will consider effective use of picture books as well as multi-modal texts.

 Dr Ron Gorman

Ron is the former Deputy Director of AISWA. He has extensive experience in teaching and leading a diversity of schools in WA and Victoria. Ron has managed numerous innovative programmes and university partnerships. He is a member of the Global Educators Leaders Partnership and has been awarded Fellow of Australian Council of Educational Leadership and the Pre-Emminent Educator award in WA in 2019. Ron is also past-Chair of the Australian Children’s Laureate Foundation, advocating for Australian authors and illustrators and working closely with the Australian Children’s Laureate.
