Course Summary: This three-day course aims to develop a deep understanding of the role of the early childhood educator in leading advanced pedagogical practices and creating a successful learning organisation. The course will focus on leadership at all levels in this context. During the three days you will: • examine the Australian Professional Standard for Principals and what it means for the Early Learning Coordinator • examine the Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher career stage of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and what evidence one would look for in an early learning context • reflect on yourself as a leader in your context • examine ways to develop a team approach and a shared vision • consider the importance of an Early Years philosophy to underpin practice • examine ways to develop good relationships with students, staff and the community • develop your skills in giving feedback and having the hard conversations • discuss and explore methodologies for observation, the collection of data and planning for individual students • explore the theoretical underpinnings of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Australian Curriculum and align them across teaching and learning in the early years • explore ideas and techniques for creating effective learning environments • create a plan of action to develop advanced pedagogical practices within your team that suits the educational context • examine ways to advocate for early childhood within the whole organisationPresenters

Anne Hey commenced as a consultant at AISWA in October 2011 following a career in education as a teacher, school leader, and consultant. Currently a member of the Leadership and Teacher Quality Team Anne consults with schools, teachers and leaders on a wide range of issues including; curriculum, pedagogy, leadership and teacher quality.
