Description
Join us for a two-day professional learning (PL) opportunity at the Aboriginal Independent Community Schools Network Meeting. This session is designed to foster connections and networking among early childhood educators working in remote contexts. Participants will have the chance to engage with peers from independent and Catholic sectors, as well as prior to school programs and services, particularly those operating in the remote regions of the Kimberley and across Western Australia.
Day One:
The day will begin with a Welcome to Yawuru Country and opportunities for attendees to connect. This will be followed by presentations on prior to school and transition to school, where experts will share effective strategies and practices for early childhood education. Additionally, there will be a presentation from the Kanyirninpa Jukurrpa (KJ) Rangers about their Women and Families program, a Martu-led initiative that emphasizes strong connections to identity, culture, country, and language.
The afternoon will be dedicated to networking, providing an opportunity for early years educators working in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander settings to engage with one another. This session will offer a platform to share experiences, challenges, and best practices, fostering a supportive professional community.
Day Two:
Day two will be exclusively open to AISWA schools and non-members by invitation only. The focus will be on Early Childhood pedagogy, programs, and practices. The AISWA early childhood team will deliver professional learning sessions, providing participants with valuable insights and strategies to enhance their educational practices.
This day will offer a deep dive into effective early childhood education methodologies, ensuring that attendees leave with practical knowledge and tools to implement in their own settings. The sessions will be interactive and collaborative, fostering an environment of shared learning and professional growth.
