Description

The Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum (KS:CPC) is a child safety and respectful relationships curriculum providing age and developmentally appropriate activities for children and young people from age 3 to year 12 (age 17+).

The KS:CPC helps children and young people:

  • Recognise abuse and tell a trusted adult.
  • Understand what is appropriate and inappropriate touching.
  • Understand ways to keep themselves safe.

This course will unpack the structure and core messages of the Curriculum, giving participants the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the resources and experience some of the activities and lessons. Time is given for teachers and/or staff teams to look at how they can best contribute to their students’ understanding of Protective Behaviours and also for holistic school planning.

KS:CPC is a resource that enables schools to meet the Non-Government Registration Standards requirement to provide a protective behaviours and sexual abuse prevention education to all students. This one day of training is compulsory for all staff who will be implementing the KS:CPC.

Outcomes

•    Understand the KS:CPC structure and implementation in the classroom.
•    How to equip students with the skills they need to keep safe.
•    Become familiar with the resources and website.
•    Participate in activities that illustrate integration and adaption for varying needs and abilities.
•    Be equipped to communicate and partner with parents in resourcing children in their right to be safe.
