Description

This full-day workshop will explore authentic ways to weave Indigenous perspectives into the second language classroom.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures are a cross-curriculum priority in the Western Australian Curriculum. However, many language teachers feel they lack the deeper knowledge required to integrate these perspectives in a way that is both meaningful and respectful, rather than tokenistic.

This workshop will equip participants with the knowledge and tools to explore essential aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories. By learning how to authentically incorporate Indigenous perspectives into their language teaching and making intercultural comparisons, participants will be able to create respectful and engaging language learning experiences that align with broader educational goals.
