Description
Immerse yourself in a full day of professional learning with Educated by Nature, designed to inspire and equip educators to embrace outdoor learning on school campuses or in nearby natural spaces. This workshop highlights the benefits of teaching outdoors, supported by research and inspiring stories of outdoor classrooms in action. Learn how to transform everyday lessons by incorporating the natural environment, from simple, single-session activities to more extensive programs that utilise school grounds or under-utilised local bushland. Gain practical advice on identifying suitable sites, liaising with local councils, assessing risks, and resourcing outdoor spaces to build a culture of learning and curiosity in nature.
Through hands-on activities, discussions, and reflection, educators will experience nature connection routines firsthand, such as sharing gratitude, ecology and observation games, wondering and wandering with intention, mindfulness Sit Spots, and nature journaling. Discover how these practices deepen student engagement, motivate learning, and foster a sense of connection within nature. The workshop also explores integrating curriculum areas into outdoor learning and extending outdoor experiences back into the classroom. Whether starting with your school grounds or venturing into local natural spaces, this workshop will help you start your journey to design flexible, engaging programs that align with student energy and curiosity while enhancing well-being for all involved.
