Description

This training focuses on schools developing a culture of safety by implementing the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations in conjunction with the Guide to the registration standards and other requirements for Non Government Schools. These Principles have been developed as a result of the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and cover all aspects of a child safe culture and community.  This professional learning should be attended by leaders in your school who will be responsible for managing the implementation of the National Principles ensuring that they are well embedded in your school’s processes.

This implementation requires whole school community involvement and is the flagship of your school's culture of safety. It is strongly recommended that before attending this course that participants complete the National Principles e-learning modules. https://childsafe.humanrights.gov.au/learning-hub/e-learning-modules

Comprehensive implementation and continued fulfillment of the National Principles not only
satisfies Standard 10.1 but also assists in the mitigation of a significant area of risk, from a
child safety perspective as well as school reputation.

Outcomes

•    Understand and apply the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations to Independent schools
•    Provide a framework in linking the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and the Non-Government schools registration standards.
•    Further develop the alignment of school processes with the National Principles and the Standard
•    Understand the importance of developing and sustaining a culture of safety within the school
