Description
In this session, teachers will be exposed to a variety of mathematical experiences that lay the foundation for the mathematics that children will experience in primary school. Each experience will be linked to the pre-requisite knowledge that children will require to understand basic mathematics concepts. The mathematical vocabulary developed via the experiences will be highlighted as well as variations to the base experience to cater for children of differing abilities. Photographs of various experiences will be encouraged so that participants can document their journey.
Participants will be provided with a book of ideas to take away.

Dr Paul Swan
Dr Paul Swan has many years of experience having taught at the primary secondary and tertiary level. He has written many books and games and created resources to help support teachers and the teaching of mathematics. His website www.drpaulswan.com.au contains many further support materials, many which are free.
He is the recipient of many awards, the most recent being for the development and publishing of Bond Blocks. Recently he has developed video PL courses and offers live and pre-recorded video PL as well as face to face PL.
