BRIEFING THE BOARD

DOWN SYNDROME WESTERN AUSTRALIA 

Teachers and teacher assistants are invited to attend a one-day workshop on: “Educating the student with Down syndrome.  Staff from Down Syndrome WA will present this workshop, which has been designed to give teachers and assistants an overview of the student with Down syndrome.

AUSTRALIAN ASSOCIATION OF SPECIAL EDUCATION Inc. WA CHAPTER | Using the Seesaw Plus app to track IEP goals in the special needs classroom

Seesaw Plus (a classroom app) has a new exciting feature that has the potential to transform the way we track student progress in special needs education. The new “Skills” feature now allows teachers to tag posts with fully-customisable individualised learning goals and assign a simple 1-4 star rating to get a real-time understanding of how students are progressing in their IEPs.

AMPED UP PROJECT | INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN 2018 (all Independent secondary schools)

On behalf of the Telethon Kids Institute at The University of Western Australia, Amped Up project team would like to invite your school to participate in a research study about energy drinks called Amped Up: an energy drink study. This project is led by Dr Gina Trapp which seeks to understand young people’s experiences, views and opinions on energy drinks and other caffeine-containing beverages.

CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY 2018 | Schools / Youth Clean Up Day Friday 2 March.

Last year, over 1600 primary and 450 high schools undertook local Clean Ups, providing students with firsthand insights into the impact of rubbish when it finds its way into our environment.
