KATE MULLIN TEACHER AWARD 2017

The Kate Mullin Association has an annual Teacher Award. The award, which is worth $5,000, is for the teacher in WA who has made the greatest contribution to improving the literacy of Aboriginal students. Please circulate to anyone you think might be a good candidate.  The submissions have to be in by 1st November 2017 with the Award presented at the WATESOL AGM at the end of November.  Candidates or people submitting on their behalf can access the nomination and referee forms from the KMA web site http://katemullinassociation.org/teacher-award/

APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2018 COMMONWEALTH BANK TEACHING AWARDS | Applications are open from 4th September to 12th October 2017.

The Teaching Awards celebrate excellence in teaching and school leadership. In 2018,12 outstanding educators will receive a $45,000 Teaching Fellowship, including $30,000 for a project at their school, $10,000 for professional development and a $5,000 study tour to a high-performing education system.

PROFESIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR MATHEMATICS TEACHERS | Year 12 Mathematics Method | Monday, 25th Sep to Friday 29th Sep.

The School of Education will be running a professional development module for mathematics teachers who are not currently teaching Year 12 Mathematics Methods but who would like to do so in the future. At the same time, this module is also available for current Mathematics Methods teachers who may be teaching the Year 12 course for the first time or who want to gain more knowledge of the course.

COMPASSION FATIGUE | Friday, 29th September.

This one day workshop will provide a framework for understanding compassion fatigue. Research has that shown those who help people that have been exposed to traumatic stressors are at risk for developing negative symptoms associated with burnout, depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder (Stamm, 2010).
