NEW CHILD PROTECTION REPORTING
The Child Protection and Family Support Department is conducting an internal restructure which will see the implementation of a Central Team responsible for assessing all new reports of concern for children in the metropolitan area (see flyer). This will result in a single referral point for new concerns for children rather than needing to refer to one of the 8 metro district offices (Armadale, Cannington, Fremantle, Joondalup, Midland, Mirrabooka, Perth, Rockingham). This change will come into effect from Monday 3rd July 2017. There is one exception to this, reports made under Mandatory Reporting legislation will still be referred to the Mandatory Reporting Service (same process that operates currently).
The Department is also developing a revised version of the Child Protection Referral Form. Once finalised this will be distributed to relevant parties (including AISWA), and this information will be forwarded to schools.
For information please see attached Flyer

This seminar will discuss evidence from research that investigated the online behaviours of children and young people and actions parents and other members of the school community can take to protect and enhance their own and their children’s digital lives (and reputations) and to minimise possible cyber-related harms from their interactions in an online environment.

To acknowledge these milestones, the Western Australian Department of Aboriginal Affairs’ Aboriginal History Research Unit has developed an information toolkit to provide a unique WA perspective of this event and look at the progress of Aboriginal rights in WA to date. The Toolkit aims to educate the broader public and to be incorporated into WA school curricula, to focus on the history of these significant events and open up contemporary dialogue with the Aboriginal community.
